Each unit is made from 7 boards. (8 foot) (2 8 footers and 11 4 footers cut from 8 footers)
The wood alone would cost from $175 to $280 for each unit (the lower price would have many knots)
Yes - the sides have dado cuts and may not be too re-usable for other purposes.
Each shelf and the top and bottom pieces will provide 3.5 feet of usable board (1x10 by 3.5 ft.)

The shelves are not adjustable they are permanently installed (in cut-in dados/grooves).
They are somewhat bulky and it will take two people to move each one.
Because they are real wood, they not as heavy as cheap pressed board pieces.
