Leicester Longwools are a legacy/heritage breed of sheep currently categorized as Threatened by the Livestock Conservancy and increasing in numbers in the United States. Their fleece is prized by hand spinners and crafters for its curl, soft handle, and lustrous beauty. It's very versatile, working well for combing for worsted products, carding for woolen products, and for felting projects. The wool has an evenness of length with a spiral tipped staple up to 6-10 inches in twelve months growth and generally yields from 8-12 pounds of raw wool before skirting.
