Not a “rock drummer.”
Not a “tech drummer.”
I’m looking for the heartbeat; the pulse of something ancient and half feral that hasn’t walked this earth in a long time.
ABOUT ME / THE GUITAR
I play out in left field:
double tapped, off-kilter, angular, rhythmic patterns that feel like broken machinery learning to speak again.
Think: wild-animal feedback, crooked riffs, melodic noise, roars, drones, and sudden geometric shifts.
Equal parts Sonic Youth, early Modest Mouse, Black Midi, MBV, and Twin Peaks dream-logic.
I’m building a project that lives between maximalism and minimalism; noisy, sparse, ritualistic, punk, doom, shoegaze, art-damaged, surreal, political, and emotional.
A primitive modern thing.
A rusted cathedral.
A marching band from another timeline.
THE PROJECT
3-piece.
Guitar (me).
Primitive drummer (you?).
An anarchist spoken-word/punk poet doing vocals.
My influences include:
Garbage & The Flowers, Disco Doom, Sonic Youth, The Mars Volta, The Black Angels, The Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, Fugazi, Animal Collective, Cloud Nothings, Talking Heads, Yellow Swans, The Avalanches, Dead Kennedys, Pavement, The Broadways, Modest Mouse, At the Drive-In, Propagandhi, The Dead Kennedys, Glassjaw… and of course the dream-language of David Lynch.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR
A melodic, primitive drummer: someone who plays like a ritual, not a kit.
• No cymbals or hi-hats (open sky, no metal clutter).
• 6 toms, snare, double-kick. (I can get the kit)
• Mallets instead of sticks.
• Patterns that feel tribal, marching-band, taiko, doom-heavy, and hypnotic.
• Melodies played on toms.
• Thundering double-bass that feels like tectonic movement.
• Repetition that evolves into trance.
• Willing to experiment with odd time, polyrhythms, minimalism, maximalism, and the occasional total meltdown.
I want someone who doesn’t mind being the rhythmic foundation and the melodic spine at the same time. Someone who wants to build something strange, heavy, poetic, ritualistic, but still catchy in its own crooked way.
